first of all, i never thought that i would ever study abroad in chile until last november after a little chat with my Spanish profesora. my heart was set on spain - culture, europe, accent, mother country - but God had other plans for me! one of my majors is spanish, so my objective for studying abroad is to procure proficiency/near fluency in the language. sharing this with my profesora, she informed me that my dreams would not be met if i studied in Spain, strange no? too many other american students.
she then recommended south america and valparaíso, chile in particular. so off i go: july 14 - december 12.(mom isn't very happy about this)
i will be studying at la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and living with a chilean family.
please keep me in your prayers as i have no idea what i am in for. i do know that it will be a tremendous experience filled with memories and growth.
